Feistritzer Finds The Money in 2nd Annual Colston Paving 40 at Ponderosa Speedway
Junction City, KY-August 14, 2009- Ponderosa Speedway presented the 2nd Annual Colston Paving 40 for the Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Model division on Friday evening and P.J. Feistritzer of Danville, KY would claim the $2,000 payday in the biggest event ever held at the track for the Pro Late Models. Other feature winners for the evening included Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Bartley Grant of Berea, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Sportsman.
The start of the 40 lap, $2,000 to win 2nd Annual Colston Paving 40 for Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models would see Victor Lee take the race lead, with P.J. Feistritzer, Jeremy Hines, Rick Hines, and Clarence Belcher giving chase. Gar Yeager would take fifth on lap 2 as Lee would set a torrid pace at the point. The leader would start working slower traffic on lap 6 as Lee would simply mow down the back half of the field in the early going of the race. Kevin Colston would begin to mount a charge and would pull past Yeager for fifth on lap 11 and would be as high third past the son and father duo of Jeremy and Rick Hines by lap 15. The first caution of the race would fly on lap 19 when Whitney McQueary would roll to a stop in turn two. This would negate an almost full straightaway lead that Lee had built up and bring the rest of the field back to the leader. The restart would see Feistritzer stay right with Lee, while Jeremy Hines, Rick Hines, and Kevin Colston would battle for third through fifth. Colston would win the battle for fourth on lap 21, while Lee and Feistritzer scooted away from the field in their battle for the lead. Feistritzer would begin to make his move on lap 26 and successfully take the top spot one circuit later on lap 27. The final caution of the race would appear on lap 28 when 8th place running and final car on the lead lap Logan Whitis would spin his machine entering turn one. The restart would have Robbie Sanders now in fifth place and he would take fourth from Rick Hines on lap 32 after a side-by-side tussle for the spot. Feistritzer would build a somewhat comfortable lead over the final seven trips and drive to the checkered flag first in his Self Service Storage sponsored #88 C.J. Rayburn Race Car, GM 604 Crate powered entry. Lee would take runner-up honors, followed by Jeremy Hines, Sanders, and Rick Hines. The remainder of the top ten would be Yeager, Colston, John Mulligan, Kyle Madison, and Jeff Johnson. Lee would be top qualifier among 19 entries at 14.183 seconds, with heat race wins going to Lee, Feistritzer, and Jeremy Hines.
