(Peebles, Ohio) On a typical Sunday morning, area pastors can be found preaching the bible to their congregations, but on Saturday July 10 many of them traded their pulpit for a drivers seat in the 7th Annual Jesus Motorsports Outreach Faster Pastor Race. The annual event pits area pastors and co pastors against each other in a 4 cylinder stock car race. Troy Dotson of Tranquility Community Church stormed from his tenth starting position to claim the 2010 faster pastor title.
In other action Walton, Kentucky’s “Big Show” Robby Hensley stormed to the late model feature win. West Portsmouth, Ohio’s Doug Adkins rolled to the modified feature win. Peebles, Ohio’s Dave Jamison charged to the legend feature win. Bainbridge, Ohio’s Rex Smith Jr. thundered to the crazy compact win and Lucasville, Ohio’s Darren Pendleton took the bomber feature win.
After two failed attempts to start the late model feature, the field was lined up for a single file start. At the drop of the green Robby Hensley shot into turn one with Josh Tidwell mounting a challenge under him. Hensley fought back down the back stretch pulling a car length in front of Tidwell. Tidwell chased Hensley until the action was slowed with a lap six caution when Butch Dowdy slammed the wall in turn three.
On the restart, Hensley maintained the advantage over Tidwell, Paul Moore, Mark Morrison, Chris Shannon and Kevin Wagner. The action was slowed one lap later when Moore spun his #4 off the back stretch.
On the restart, Hensley held off a challenge from Tidwell to maintain the lead. Over the next three laps Tidwell, Morrison, Shannon and Wagner chased front running Hensley. The action was slowed with a lap eleven caution when Morrison slowed to a stop in turn two after shredding a right rear tire.
On the restart, Hensley held off Tidwell while Wagner slid by Shannon to take over the third position. The action was slowed for the final time on lap thirteen when Paul Moore looped his machine in turn three.
On the restart, Hensley maintained the advantage out front while Wagner slid past Tidwell to take over second. Hensley held on over the final laps to pick up his first feature win at Brushcreek. Following Hensley across the line were Kevin Wagner, Mike Myers, Josh Tidwell, and Joey Dunseith rounding out the top five.
Doug Adkins and Weasel Rhoades brought the modified feature field to the green. At the drop of the green Adkins shot into turn one with a slight lead over Rhoades who was being challenged by Dave Jamison. Out of turn two Rhoades used the high side momentum to pull ahead of Jamison alongside front running Adkins. The duo went into turn three side by side but Adkins gained a slight advantage out of turn four. The action was slowed with a lap three caution when Robert Nunner rolled to a stop on the front stretch.
On the restart, front running Adkins maintained the advantage as Rhoades was holding off a challenge from Dave Jamison. Adkins maintained a small lead over the next six laps. The action was slowed with a lap 10 caution when Josh Edmisten looped his #7 in turn two.
On the restart, Adkins maintained the advantage as Jamison slid by Rhoades for second. Rhoades began to fade as the action was slowed with a lap eleven caution when Dave Petters spun. While under caution Rhoades went pit side with a flat tire.
On the restart, Adkins held off Jamison to maintain the lead. Adkins held on over the final laps to pick up his second straight feature win. Following Adkins across the line were Jamison, Mike Gross, Doug Popp, and Justin Mullen rounding out the top five.
“We came here two weeks in a row trying to get the car dialed in. Hopefully we can come back and win us a Harley so that’s what we’re here for” “ Pretty cool track tonight; track was really good it slicked off a little bit, but moisture came back a little bit tonight so it was a really fast track” “I don’t know what our times was but pretty awesome race tonight” said Adkins in victory lane.
Dave Jamison and Tom Partin brought the legend feature field to the green. At the drop of the green flag the duo shot into turn one side by side. Partin gained a slight advantage down the back stretch. Using the high side momentum Partin maintained a slight lead over Jamison when a lap twelve caution waved when Steven Partin looped his #71 mount in turn four.
On the restart, Jamison shot under front running Partin. The duo went into turn one side by side but Jamison would emerge out of turn two with the lead. Partin tried to make the move by Jamison on the outside out of turn four but Jamison shut the door to maintain the point. Jamison held on over the final two laps to beat Partin by a fender at the line. Following Jamison across the line were Tom Partin, Gary Rowland, Jake Miller, and Rob Puckett rounding out the top five.
Rex Smith Jr., and Gerald Campbell brought the crazy compact feature to the green. At the drop of the green Smith jumped out to the lead leaving Campbell and Bill Taylor to battle for second. As the battle for second heated up front running Smith began to stretch his lead. Taylor finally got by Campbell on lap four. Meanwhile front running Smith had worked out to a large lead and was able to cruise to the feature win. Following Smith across the line were Bill Taylor, Gerald Campbell Jr., Gerald Campbell Sr., and Cole Demint rounding out the top five.
Shane and Darren Pendleton brought the bomber feature field to the green. Shane jumped out to the early lead with Darren in tow. Shane lead for the first seven circuits before Darren moved by to take the lead on lap eight. Just one lap later Shane took his #48 machine pit side with a flat right rear tire. Darren held on over the final laps to pick up the feature win.
