2010 Rules and Regulations

General Rules
1. Management & Director of Competition reserves the right to reject or allow the entry of any car and/or driver.
2. Management & Director reserve the right to refuse entry in to the Pit Area to anyone for any reason.
3. No intoxicating beverages, narcotics, or illegal substances are to be consumed and/or used during any event, by anyone entering the racing facility.
4. Verbal or physical abuse of any official or other entrant on premises, is strictly prohibited. Fighting on premises, is strictly prohibited. Fighting on premises at any time will subject offender(s) to possible suspension & definite ejection. Any fighting by a driver or a team member will result in the driver or drivers being disqualified from the event. Any driver that is disqualified from any event will forfeit any monies that they may receive for that night.
5. Officials must be immediately notified of any driver change, and that car will start from the REAR.
6. Drivers, owners, and/or crew members have no claims against management or any official due to disqualification or damage to driver or equipment resulting in an altercation arising from unsportsman-like conduct on behalf of drivers, owners, and/or crew members.
7. The Press Box is off limits to all participants at all times, unless permission is granted by the Race Director.
8. All decisions of scoring judges & officials are FINAL.
9. No Driver or Crew Member shall interfere with the flagman at anytime.
10. Whenever it is deemed dangerous, unsafe, or unjustified to continue any racing event, it may be stopped at any point by the discretion of management.
11. Per given race night, race cars must claim 1 class only, however, a driver may drive in more than 1 class by paying for a second Pit Gate Admission.
12. Every year you must file a completed registration form and an IRS form W-9 filled out and returned to management. (Copies on request)
13. All pit entrants must sign a voluntary waiver & release from liability & indemnity agreement, (copies on request), & pay for & receive an authorized pit pass.
14. Make absolutely sure you keep your authorized pit pass. In the event of a rainout, it is the only means by which you will be allowed admittance on the rescheduled date. Your signature on pitsheets, or "don't you remember me?", is not acceptable to gain re-admittance.
15. Anyone caught illegally entering pits & cannot produce an authorized pit pass will be immediately ejected from track.
(Management reserves the right to ask for proof of admission at any time.)
16. Pay-Out Procedure: Only owner and/or driver may pick up any prize monies. Be prepared to show a valid driver's license or some other form of I.D. if you are asked. This is to make sure that the right parties do receive what is due them.
17. Prize monies left unclaimed over 14 days will become the property of Ponderosa Speedway, Inc.
18. The management reserves the right due to inclement weather conditions and/or any unforeseen conditions, to make changes in the posted pay-off structure. You will be notified as soon as possible IF this condition arises.
19. Rule changes and/or additions will be posted immediately, as soon as they become available and are at the discretion of Management & Director.
20. A Rain-out will be declared unless the 1st Feature Race is complete. After that point NO RAIN CHECKS will be issued. Any Feature with 1/2 the laps completed will be paid according to the way they were running when
rained out.

Flag Rules
Green Flag: (Green Light) Racing is underway on the entire track. Anyone advancing position(s) prior to the green green flag is subject to being black-flagged. All cars must complete the first two turns for an official start. Only one restart per race.
Yellow Flag: (Yellow Light) Means caution. There is NO racing back to the start finish line. Cars will line up according to the last scored lap. Any car not maintaining a slow and cautious speed is subject to being black flagged or disqualification.
White Flag: One lap to go!
Black Flag: Driver must go to the pits for consultation with a Race Official. If the driver ignores the black flag for two laps the car will be dropped from scoring.
Red Flag: Stop regardless of position on track, and do not proceed unless and/or until an official authorizes you to move your car.
Blue/Yellow: Lay-over flag, means lapped cars move to the bottom of the track.

On Track Rules
1. No two way radios.
2. The only people allowed on the race track and infield area are race officials. Everyone must stay off the track at all times unless requested by an official to assist for some special reason.
3. Working on cars on the track is prohibited.
4. Drivers must remain in their cars after a crash and remain buckled up until the field slows down.
5. Pit Crew, Car Owners, and Personnel in the pit are not allowed on the track following an accident or injury. Drivers are responsible for his/her pit crew.
6. No person will be permitted to ride on the outside of a racecar at anytime.
7. Race director reserves the right to move the front row after TWO (2) false starts.
8. Anything dragging or hanging on a car that is determined unsafe, will result in that car being black-flagged. This car will be allowed back onto the track after repairs are made.
9. Any car entering the racetrack from any location other than the posted gate, will be penalized one (1) lap. (THERE IS ONLY ONE GATE WHICH YOU ARE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE TRACK).
10. Any car causing a situation that brings out the yellow or red flag will automatically go to the tail. Note: if you are involved in an accident which only slows you or if you do not make contact with the vehicles involved, you regain your position. If it is deemed that you intentionally caused a wreck, you will be sent to the pits. If you are involved in a wreck and have made contact, go to the tail!! This does not include stopping to avoid a wreck.
11. After the caution is cleaned up, track officials will give the drivers the (1) to go signal to prepare the driver the green flag will be dropped on the next lap.
12. There is an orange cone located on the front-stretch of the speedway. This cone is used for the start of the race and restarts after cautions. The cone is the starting point of the race, no car is permitted to start before that point. On a restart, the cone is the starting point of the race for the leader. No car is allowed to make any pass or initiate a pass till after they pass the cone. If a car is deemed for making a pass before the cone it will result in a penalty. The penalty will be a loss of (2) positions at the next stopping point of the race. The stopping points will be the next caution or the end of the race which ever comes first.
13. Any car spinning that brings out the yellow flag more than two times during any one race will be black-flagged. This means spinning due to driver control; not to avoid a wreck.
14. We DO NOT have inside or outside position choice in any race for the pole position.
15. At the start of race, any cars missing from line-up will be filled by moving the field straight up.
16. If a driver gets out of car for any reason onto the track, he will be automatically disqualified.
17. In the event of a flat tire, the driver will get three (3) caution flag laps to change tire and will start from rear of field.

Pro Late Model Rules
ENGINE RULES:
1. GM 1 part number 88958602 & GM part number 88958604
*Items that can be changed to service engine are as follows:

*Any tampering with 1.5 rocker arms GM part #10241740
ARE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION
*Any GM part #'s that are superceded by GM will be considered to be approved by series officials.
2. These engines are sealed at the intake manifold, cylinder head, front cover and oil pan with special twist off bolt heads. Spec. engines MUST NOT be altered or modified from factory specs.
3. Series reserves the right to have all members engines pre inspected and may use a sealed cap on bolts to guarantee engine security. Drivers are responsible for the cost of inspection and seal caps used. No changes are allowed to the engine-intake manifold,
heads, valve covers, front timing cover, oil pan, harmonic balancer and any other part/parts on or within the engine.
* Any seals that appear to be tampered with or damaged will require engine to be reinspected at teams cost to be considered legal.
(any certification or re-certification is at the cost of driver/team/owner)
4. No vacuum pumps.
5. Engine serial number must be clearly visible to series technical inspector.
6. Engine set back NOT to exceed six (6) inches from ball joint to number one (1) spark plug.
7. Any violation of the engine rules and/or factory specs inside the ILMS seals of the engine can result in the driver being disqualified from the event, the driver will forfeit all points and monies from event, and be suspended for 30 days and or fined $500.00.
8. Series officials reserve the right to confiscate any parts deemed to be illegal for further inspection.
9. Series also reserves the right to exchange an engine with a pre-certified motor for further inspection. Any driver/owner/team not agreeing to exchange (engine complete minus all bolt on acc.) will be disqualified, forfeiting all points and monies from event. Motor will be returned/exchanged at series discretion, engine MUST be returned in the same condition as received. In the event of an engine exchange the series will provide a pre-certified engine for said engine to be considered illegal, the certified engine provided will remain the property of the series and the engine owned by driver/owner/team will still belong to them.
10. All decisions made by series officials are final!
CARBURETOR RULE:
1. 0ne four-barrel carburetor only of any manufacturer.
2. Engine must be naturally aspirated.
3. 604-may use one carburetor spacer (1 inch piece with .040 tolerance maximum) and two standard paper gaskets (maximum 0.070 inch thick), one gasket between intake to spacer and one gasket between spacer to carburetor.
4. 602-may use one carburetor spacer (2 inch-one piece with .040 tolerance maximum) and two standard paper gaskets (maximum 0.070 inch thick), one gasket between intake to spacer and one gasket between spacer to carburetor.
5. Carb spacers must NOT protrude into carb or intake at any point.
DISTRIBUTOR RULE:
1. Any ignition with the exception of magnetos.
2. No traction control devices.
3. No 7AL boxes. (gold)
WATER PUMP RULE:
1. Cast or aluminum permitted. NO electric pumps allowed.
2. No electric fans. Fans MUST be driven by water pump.
EXHAUST RULE:
1. Collector type headers required, they MUST have four (4) tubes into one (1) collector of a consistent diameter. Tri-y headers or merged headers, reversed coned, square tube or 180 degree headers are NOT allowed.
FUEL CELL/FUEL PUMP RULES:
1. An approved fuel cell (32 gallon max.) must be securely mounted in the trunk area of the car, inside a .20 gauge metal box supported by a minimum of two"(2) 1/8" steel straps.
2. Gas only. No alcohol. No nitrous oxide.
3. Mechanical fuel pumps only.
4. No oxygenated fuel, or fuel additives. Series reserves the right to test fuel. Any driver
refusing will NOT be allowed to run.
5. E-85 fuel is permitted but cars MUST weigh 2400 AFTER race NO BURN OFF ALLOWED.
TRANSMISSION RULES:
1. Must have at least one (1) forward and one (1) reverse gear in working order.
2. No straight drives or in and out boxes.
3. Drive shafts MUST be painted white. Carbon fiber drive shafts ARE legal.
BRAKE RULE:
1. No carbon fiber brakes.
FRAME RULES:
1. All frames must be of steel construction.
2. Square or rectangular frame must have a minimum of 2" by 2" material, .083 wall thickness.
3. Round tube frame, tubing must have a minimum of 1-3/4" outside diameter, .083 wall thickness.
ROLL CAGE RULES:
1. All cars must have a suitable steel roll cage protecting the driver's compartment, including headrest.
2. Side roll bars are mandatory, and must extend into the door panels. A minimum of three (3) bars must be on the left side.
3. Each bar must be at least 1-1/2" diameter, with a minimum thickness of .083".
4. Roll cages must be welded to frame.
WHEEL RULES:
1. Any brand or type of wheel allowed, but must be mounted with lug nuts.
2. No knock-off or center lock wheels.
3. Maximum wheel width 14".
WHEEL BASE:
1. Minimum wheel base is 103".
TIRE RULES:
1. LSB21 or LSB55 HOOSIERS ONLY for regular events. ILMS challenge races, tire rule MAY be altered to allow more tires, these changes will be noted when races are set. (Challenge races include but NOT limited to any races paying more than $600 to win)
REAR ENDS:
1. No 8 inch ring & pinions or open tube rear ends allowed.
SAFETY RULES:
1. All cars must have at-least a four (4) point racing harness, NOT more than 3 years old
and must have id tags attached to show manufacturing date.
2. All drivers MUST wear a complete fire suit.
3. Gloves are recommended, but not required.
4. Fire extinguishers are strongly recommended.
5. Raceceivers are REQUIRED ANY TIME DRIVER IS ON TRACK and MUST be in working order to
participate in ANY event.
WEIGHT RULES:
1. GM crate engine #88958602 (602 engine) –2200 lbs. both pre and post race.
2. GM crate engine #88958604 (604 engine) -2300 lbs. both pre and post race.
3. Attached weight MUST be securely bolted to the frame with 1/2" or larger bolts (minimum of 2 bolts). Any weights lost during a racing event WILL be just cause for disqualification from said event. (MAKE SURE ALL WEIGHTS ARE SECURLY MOUNTED)
4. Added weights MUST be painted white and have car number displayed.
5. Note: rule under fuel section for E-85 weights.
PROTEST RULES:
*Any DRIVER wanting to protest a series competitor can do so as follows:
1. Driver must put up $1500 cash to a series official prior to cars taking the track for amain.
2. Protesting driver MUST finish in the top 5 to proceed with protest.
*Protest monies will break down as follows:
$500 to series inspector for pulling of motor, teardown, inspection, and all parts reinstalled.
*In the event protested engine is found legal, driver will receive $750 of monies put forth for protest.
*If protest motor is illegal, series inspector keeps the $500 for pulling and tear down, all illegal parts confiscated by series, and remainder of legal parts will be returned to rightful owner.
3. $250 from ALL protest fees WILL go to driver point fund. REGARDLESS IF DRIVER FINISHES WORSE THAN top 5. (If monies are refunded it will only be $1250 with the remaining $250
to point fund.)
4. REMEMBER ONCE PROTEST MONIES ARE PAID TO A SERIES OFFICIAL, THE PROTEST WILL BE CARRIED THRU, REGARDLESS OF FINISH POSITION OF PROTESTED CAR.

Sportsman Rules
GENERAL A. A domestic complete bodied car.B. Rear wheel drive only.C. Stock frames, unibody cars allowed front to back.D. Wheel base 108-inch minimum.E. No station wagons, convertibles, Mustangs, or Capris.F. Chevy Nova is Okay to run.G. Camaros and Firebirds are Okay to run as long as they have a sub-connector frame. (They must be 108-inch minimum wheelbase)H. Absolutely NO TUBE FRAME CARS and NO SHEET METALBODIES (No Exceptions)
APPEARANCE
A. Cars must be neat in appearance and paint bright color.
B. Numbering must be 18” high (any letters must be 9” high) with contrasting color. Numbers must be on both sides and on the roof. No mirrored numbers.
C. Cars must have TOW HOOKS front and rear. Hooks must be visible and able to support weight of vehicle.
D. Body must be recognizable as a production vehicle. After market bumper covers may be used.
EXTERIOR BODY
A. Must have original appearing body panels, OEM sheet metal.
B. 8” Rear deck spoiler allowed. No spoiler on quarter panels.
C. All doors must be welded shut.
D. All glass and chrome removed. No cutting of body parts to change from stock appearance, EXCEPT for wheel clearance.
E. Gutting of trunk and hood allowed.
F. Rear body must be enclosed; NO Open Back-End.
G. Bumpers must be welded to prevent loss. No sharp edges allowed. If ends are cut off they must be capped. Minimum of 4 vertical bars in windshield with 1” maximum mesh screen covering entire windshield.
H. Fenders and hoods must have stock appearance.
I. Can use stock bumper and header or after market front nose.
J. All body panels must be steel: no aluminum, plastic or fiberglass roofs, doors, quarters, fenders or deck lids.
INTERIOR BODY
A. Interior of car must be completely sealed from engine compartment.
B. Must have a rear firewall.
C. No uncovered batteries, fluid reservoirs or tanks in driver’s compartment.
D. No mirrors, two way communications or electronic devices of any kind.
E. All bars near driver must be padded.
FRAMES
A. Frames must match manufacturer of body.
B. No after market tubing frame except behind the rear end hump. This means that only the flat part around the fuel cell, after the hump that is over the rear end.
ROLL CAGE
A. 6 point full roll cage that may exceed past front of firewall.
B. Must be welded 360 degrees.
C. 4 kicker bars on driver’s side door, 2 bars on passenger side door. .095 steel. 6 kicker bars allowed.
D. Padding on roll cage within 30 inches of driver’s head.
SAFETY
A. Racing seat required.
B. 5-part nylon quick-release harness and safety belt required. Must be in excellent working condition at all times. Harnesses must be attached to frame.
C. Approved fire suit and gloves are mandatory. Fireproof; hood, socks, shoes and underwear recommended.
D. Full-face helmet is required with a lexan shield. Must be at least snell 85 approved.
E. Driver side window net minimum of 12” X 12” with ¾ webbing is mandatory, MUST be mounted to roll cage.
F. An operational fire extinguisher properly mounted within the driver’s reach is mandatory.
G. Drive shaft loop required. Drive shafts must be painted white, MUST be factory stock. No aluminum drive shafts.
H. Dash mounted engine kill switch.
I. Battery must be securely fastened and contained away from fuel cell.
J. Fuel cell must be secure and firmly mounted in the trunk area. Fuel line must run under floor and/or covered in1 ½ inch tubing.
K. Must be approved fuel cell—32-gallon maximum.
CARBURETOR
A. One 2 or 4 Barrel carburetor. No dominators or predators. 750 Holley permissible.
B. Carburetor must have stock appearance.
C. Gas only. No alcohol.
ENGINE
A. Engine must be original equipment for the manufacturer of the car.
B. #1 or first spark plug must be in C/L with upper ball joint. (MAXIUMUM SET BACK)
C. Cast iron blocks and heads – no cubic inch limit.
D. Fuel pump must be stock mechanical only.
E. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS.
F. No Magnetos allowed. MSD allowed.
G. Headers permitted.
H. Mufflers are required. Noise level may not exceed ________.
I. Exhaust pipes must exit out past body behind driver’s seat.
J. Car must have working starter and start under own power.
TRANSMISSION
A. Must have working forward and reverse gears.
B. Standard or automatic transmissions, mini clutches and direct drives are okay. Standard flywheels must have scatter shield or blanket.
C. Bert and Brinn Transmissions allowed.
SUSPENSION
A. Front and rear suspension as stock as possible, may be braced for safety.
B. Weight jacks allowed.
C. Racing shocks allowed—1 per wheel. (1 per corner)
D. No coil overs allowed.
E. May have quick release adapter on steering wheel.
F. Upper and lower control arm must be non-adjustable.
G. Passenger car type rear ends only, may mismatch manufacturers.
H. May run floater rear ends.
I. No J Bars or Pull Bars allowed.
BRAKES
A. Required on at least 3 wheels, must be sufficient to stop car.
TIRES/WHEELS
A. Steel racing or wagon wheels only.
B. 8” wheel width maximum.
C. 1” lug nuts on all wheels.
D. Beadlock permitted on right side front and rear, and left rear.
E. Street tire 2.55 x 60 x 15 maximum. (60 minimum)
F. Hoosier or American (Open-wheel) race tires are okay (A, H, HARD, OR EXTRA HARD COMPOUNDS ONLY ALL (4) TIRES) Absolutely NO "SOFT COMPOUNDS"
G. Tire and wheel must not extend past stock body panel.
H. Size must be legible on outer side of tire.
WEIGHT
A. Must weigh 3200 minimum with driver at all times.

These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way guaranteed against injury of death to a participant, spectator or official.
The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviations from any of the specifications herein or impose and further the restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
