SOMERSET, KY (August 30, 2009)—After several weeks of planning, the 5th Annual Iron-Man Classic is back on the 2009 schedule, returning to its Eastern Kentucky roots for two big nights of Dirt Late Model action.
CT Promotions along with C.J. Rayburn’s National All-Star Racing Association (NASRA) will co/sanction two nights of racing on Friday/Saturday September 18 and 19 at the Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
On Friday Night September 18, the Iron-Man Classic weekend kicks off with a $2,000 to win / $200 to start event plus supporting classes. The feature will be 30 Laps in length.
Then on Saturday Night September 19, the weekend wraps up with a $3,000 to win / $250 to start event plus supporting classes. The feature will be 35 laps in length.
Each night, the Iron-Man Classic event will utilize the National All-Star Racing Association tire rule which consists of Hoosier: LM40, D55, 1600 and American Racer: MD56. Only these tires on the rear with open on the front and the rear tires must punch a minimum of 58. All rules are now posted on the official web page of the Iron-Man Classic located at www.ironmanclassic.net .
The National All-Star Racing Association was started by legendary chassis builder and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Member C.J. Rayburn. It will allow the Late Models that utilize the Crate engines and Steel Block engines to compete with the regular engines used in most current Super Late Model sanctioning bodies.
The Iron-Man Classic first took to the track in August of 2004 at the Mountain Motor Speedway and Jackie Boggs of Grayson, KY would claim the $2,000 top prize in front of a packed house. Promoter Chris Tilley thought it was a good idea to keep the Iron-Man Classic going and it has now turned into a great yearly racing event for Central and Eastern Kentucky. During this year’s racing events, the NASRA technical rules will be used and CT Promotions will handle race control each night.
‘‘I’m excited about working with Barry and Calver and the entire Mountain Motor Speedway staff, they have been real receptive to us and the Iron-Man Classic weekend and it’s always great to be working with C.J. Rayburn,’’ stated event Promoter Chris Tilley.
